We’re making it official: the full Expanso engine is now free for non-commercial use, in perpetuity. Not a trial, not a stripped-down build. This is the same engine our biggest customers run, yours to keep.
If you’re learning, researching, building in the open, or running a nonprofit, Expanso is on us. And it stays that way.

The Non-Commercial License covers use that isn’t making money: a research project or a class assignment, an open-source tool you maintain for love rather than money, a nonprofit moving data for a good cause, or you on your own hardware, learning how it all works.
The test isn’t “are you paying for Expanso.” It’s “is this helping run a business.” If it isn’t, it’s free.
Trying it at work? Go for it
Engineers at companies are welcome to evaluate Expanso on real workloads for a while: no contract, no procurement, no waiting on legal. Prove out the architecture first. When it moves into production inside the business, that’s a commercial license, and we’ll make that part painless.
Why we’re doing this
The fastest way to know Expanso works is to run it on your own data. We’d rather you do that than read about it. The more researchers, students, maintainers, and nonprofits building intelligent data pipelines at the edge, the better for them and for the whole ecosystem.
